Major Project


Requirements

The major project should be a printed or electronic document of significant length (a minimum of 12 pages if typewritten and double-spaced). It should incorporate one or more elements of graphic design and should be developed for actual use by a particular organization or business. It should be accompanied by a letter of transmittal.

Parts and Organization

The project may include some or all of the following elements:
  • Cover
  • Title page
  • Abstract or executive summary
  • Table of contents
  • Table of figures
  • Body, incorporating subject headings or divisions
  • Index
  • Glossary
  • Appendices

Grading

The finished project accounts for 20% of the final semester grade. In addition, each student will write a formal proposal for the project and a progress report on it during the course of the semester; each of these assignments will account for 10% of the final semester grade. The oral presentations (15% of the final semester grade) will also be related to the major project in some fashion. There will be one or two smaller assignments which are related to the project. In all, between 55% and 60% of the final semester grade will result from activities related to the major project. See the syllabus for a complete account of course grade percentages.
