Question 1 The descriptions of the temples of Mars and Venus were scary, dark, and heavy mood. However, the general mood or atmosphere in the Knight’s Tale is not heavy and even the mood is light. Also the Knight’s Tale is describing some kinds of love affair, too. Palamon prayed for his battle and also he wants to get married to Emily. And finally they get their wishes. I think the Chaucer wrote about the sense of humor. Two young maiden knights are having a horrible battle when they arrived at temple. I don’t think this scene is necessary. Because I might not fully understand about the background or life of maiden period but that scene is little awkward because those looks needless scene. And also ironically this scene is disturbing readers’ flow.
