Question 6 While I’m reading The Canterbury Tales, I feel little awkward because I heard that this book is about pilgrim people’s series of tales, so I expect something holy or something more deeply about religious. However, those are not quite about holy or deeply about religious story. These are some kinds of connected but in different way and this pardoner’s tale, too. Pardoner is smart but he has untrustworthy religious con man. I don’t think that he lost touch with reality. I think his character is showing that how human being is crafty and how shameless he is, like all people have desire to something and people cannot deny their desire. He works at church but he is doing all bad things that he can do. People have some kind of expectation for church people. However, he messed up all kinds of people’s expectation.
