English 359: The First Golden Ages Prof. James M. Hunter 336 Predolin (608) 663-3375 This webpage is intended as a supplement to materials used by students enrolled in English 359: British Literature before 1603 at Edgewood College (although others are of course welcome to use the page). It is not intended as a stand-alone resource for the study of medieval and early modern British literature or culture; most supplementary readings and other materials are provided through links to other sites and through references to print texts. Students enrolled in the course are required to make regular use of the webpage:
In addition, students are encouraged to familiarize themselves with general and specialized resources for literary study on the web. Three sites which are of general interest are the Voice of the Shuttle (UC/Santa Barbara's valuable site for general humanities resources), Luminarium (Anniina Jokinen's elegant and extensive site for Middle and early modern English literature), and Georgetown University's Labyrinth (an indispensable clearinghouse of internet resources for anyone who is interested in medieval studies). Other sites of special interest, such as Harvard's superb and beautifully designed Geoffrey Chaucer Website, are included on the Resources for Literary Study page.
