I received my B.A. from the University of Wisconsin in Theatre as an Acting Specialist and was accepted into the MFA Acting Program before I went to live and work in England for ten years. When I came back, I discovered English Linguistics. I completed Masters in Applied English Linguistics and in Linguistics. My PhD is in Linguistics from the University of Wisconsin, Madison where my primary area of focus was syntactic theory, and my minor was in Women’s Studies.

I have taught linguistics, applied linguistics, ESL, and composition and women’s literature. I also am fascinated by the blossoming, burgeoning field of documentary and teach Documentary Film Criticism. Environmental Ethics and Animal Studies are courses I very much enjoy teaching. I have done research in these latter two areas from a philosophical, posthumanist perspective.
